About

Driven by a commitment to positive youth development and a passion for soccer, Jeff Frykholm is a renowned educator and soccer coach with a wealth of experience on and off the field. A former tenured professor at CU Boulder with a PhD in Teaching and Learning from the University of Wisconsin, Jeff has dedicated his life to empowering young people through education and sport.

His career has spanned roles such as Co-Founder and Director of The Center for Positive Youth Development in Sport, Executive Director of FC Boulder Soccer Club, and most recently, the Head Coach of Women's Soccer at Regis University in Denver, Colorado. In these roles, he has championed the principles of mastery learning environments, creating inclusive spaces where young athletes can thrive.

With a keen ability to blend academic insight with practical coaching experience, Jeff has earned several notable accolades, including the National Academy of Education Spencer Fellow, U.S. International Fulbright Scholar, and four-time high school Coach of the Year.

In addition to his academic and coaching roles, Jeff is an accomplished athlete himself, having been a two-sport college athlete and a First Team Academic All-American in Soccer. He holds a USSF "A" License and a USC "Premier Diploma," reflecting his commitment to continual learning and development in the realm of soccer coaching.

Above all, Jeff's work is underpinned by a belief in the transformative power of sport and its ability to shape character, build resilience, and foster a sense of community and belonging. As part of our leadership team, he is passionately dedicated to ensuring that all young people, regardless of their financial circumstances, can access the life-changing benefits of soccer.
